Condition (used): very good for age in poor box (see below) - the box is very worn with edge/corner wear, damaged edges and corners to the lid, some fading/discolouration/foxing, the contents are generally good/very good: the "Contract Bridge For Beginners" Group 1 - 7 booklets, the "Ely Culbertson Tells You how and why" leaflet, and the sample deal No.4 (charles lochbridge and Ely Culbertson) etc are discoloured to varying extents, there is an opened envelope with a very good quantity of deals which are all generally very good with some slight discolouration to a few, the Autobridge Magazine Volume 1 Number 2 1942 is very good and contains some additional deals, the protective tissue layer is worn and discoloured, the Autobridge board is very good, otherwise minor marks commensurate with age and use.
Identifying marks or labels etc: "Textolite Laminated Moulded Exclusively For Autobridge Inc By General Electric Made In The United States Of America 8" on board.
Other information: fascinating old set with a board constructed in Textolite , a sort of Bakelite like plastic (Textolite was a plastic manufactured by General Electric from the 1930's. Eventually, GE started making a Formica like laminate out of Textolite and simply marketed it as Textolite SOURCE: Wiki Answers) , we are uncertain of the exact age of this item but judging by the various copyrights would suggest the late 1930s, we believe that the the 1942 magazine was a later addition to the lot - may be of some interest to a collector.
