Condition (used):  fair for age (see below) - two little chips (see photo), one to the underside of the lid and one towards the base - hairline crack towards rim - interior is rather discoloured - otherwise intact with some general wear commensurate with age and use.

Identifying marks or labels etc:   stamped "Made In Japan " - there is a maker's mark, too, which is too smudged to read, although we believe that this is probably an example of Marutomoware.

Other information:  recently acquired as part of a large collection of colourful novelty ceramics - we are unsure as to the exact provenance but most pieces appear to date from around the 1930s to 50s and these ones are Japanese in origin - features a spinning wheel scene (see photo) - may be of some interest to a collector.

Approximate dimensions:   8cm (pot diameter at base); 7cm (pot height without lid); 11.5cm (pot height with lid).

Approximate weight:  235g.
